Bendekayi palya

Ingredients:

Okra 500 grams

Oil 2 tbs

Mustard seeds 2ts

Urid dal 2ts

Curry leaves 10-15

Salt as per taste

Chilli powder 1ts

Tamarind juice 1/2 cup

Grated coconut 2tbs (optional)

 

Method:

Heat oil in a Kadai, add mustard seeds,Urid dal when dal gets brown and mustard seeds crackle add curry leaves and okra. Mix well to coat the seasoning.

Add salt,chilli powder and tamarind juice. Close the lid and cook untill okra is soft .

Add grated coconut.serve with rice or roti...

Tip: My mom says you should add salt,chilli powder and tamarind juice immediately after the seasoning to prevent curry from getting slimy.
