Basale soppu huli

Ingredients:

Basale soppu 1 bunch

Toor dal 1/2 cup

Oil 1 ts

Red chillies 5-7

Garlic cloves 3-4

Coriander seeds 2 tbs

Jeera seeds 1 ts

Mustard seeds 1 ts

Grated coconut 11/2 cup

Tamarind small piece

Water

 

Cook toor dal in pressure cooker and keep aside

Cook basale soppu

Meanwhile heat a teaspoon of oil and roast red chillies,garlic,coriander seeds,cumin seeds and mustard seeds until nice aroma comes out.

Grind these with grated coconut,tamarind adding water into a paste.

Add cooked dal,ground paste to cooked leaves and bring to a boil.

Serve with rice or steamed rice balls ( pundi)...

Simple tomato onion curry for chapathi

Ingredients:

Tomato chopped 5-6

Onion chopped -2

Green chilli sliced 2-3

Oil 2 tbs

Mustard seeds1 ts

Rasam powder 2-3 ts

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves 2 tbs for garnish

 

Heat oil add mustard seeds, wait till they crackle add onion and fry till they turn translucent.

Add green chilli,tomato and salt

Cook for 2-3 minutes

Add rasam powder cook until tomato cooks.

Switch off the heat and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve with chapathi.

 

My husband and kids love this curry. Here is another look of this yummy curry.

Tomato rasam

Ingredients:

Tomato chopped 3

Toor dal 1/2 cup

Tamarind water1/2 cup

Turmeric powder 1/2 ts

Rasam powder 2 -4 tbs

Salt to taste

Curry leaves10-15

Coriander leaves

 

Cook dal in pressure cooker

In a sauce pan add tomato ,water and cook until tomato cooked

Add add cooked mashed dal,tamarind water,turmeric powder,salt and curry leaves

Bring to boil, add rasam powder boil for 2-3 minutes

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve with rice and ghee..... Enjoy

Mixed vegetable sagu

Ingredients:

Chopped vegetables 3 cups

( I used choko,carrot,beans,peas)

Onion 1 chopped

Tomato 1 chopped

Oil 1 tbs

Mustard seeds 1 ts

Salt to taste

 

 

To grind

Coconut grated 1 cup

Coriander seeds 1 tbs

Cumin seeds 1 ts

Dalia( roasted Chana dal) 2 tbs

Cinnamon 1 cm piece

Cloves 2-4

Green chilli 3-5

Coriander leaves 4-5 sprigs

Ginger 1 inch

 

 

Grind all the ingredients under to grind into paste

Cook the vegetables adding enough water.

Heat oil add mustard seeds ,when they splutter add onion fry till translucent

Add tomato fry for 3-5 minutes

Add paste ,vegetables , salt and enough water

Bring to boil .

Serve with poori or chapathi,set dosa...

Chow chow/seemebadanekayi kootu

Ingredients:

Seemebadanekayi 1 chopped

Onion 1 chopped

Tomato 1 chopped

Turmeric powder 1/2 ts

Salt to taste

Green gram dal 1/2 cup

Grated coconut 5 tbs

Cumin seeds 2 ts

Green chillies 5

Oil 2ts

Mustard seeds 1 ts

Curry leaves 10

 

Cook green gram dal in cooker for 2-3 whistles.

Cook onion ,tomato and seemebane adding turmeric powder.

Grind coconut,green chillies and cumin seeds to paste.

Add salt,cooked dal and coconut paste to cooked vegetables.

Bring to boil,season with oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Serve with rice.

Sambar for idli


Ingradients:
Toor dal  1 cup
Vegetables of your choice
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Hing
Sambar powder


Tempering
Oil
musturd seeds
curryleaves
Red chilli


Cook dal inprssure cooker with turmeric and hing
Cook veges
Fry onion and tomato in oil for few minutes add cooker veges sambar powder,salt  bring to boil
Add cooked mashed dal
You can add Half a cup of water mixed with besan flour to make the sambar thick.
Boil few minutes add the tempering and chopped coriander leaves.
Serve.

Palak Paneer

Palak paneer is one of my favourite dishes.So here is my version of recipe.
Ingredients
Paneer 200grams
palak  1 bunch
Tomato  1 big
Onion   1 big
Ginger  & garlic paste  1 tbs
chilli powder  11/2   ts
coriander powder 1tbs
garam masala  1/2 ts
salt according to your taste
jeera  1ts
oil

Method
1.  Cook cleaned ,washed palak without adding water for 3-5 minutes untill its wilted and puree in blender.
2.  cut tomato and puree in blender
3   cut onion and puree in blender.
4.  Heat oil add jeera wait till it frys off add onion puree fry for 5minutes
5.  Add ginger and garlic paste fry for 2minutes.
6.  Add tomato puree fry till oil comes up.
7.  Add chilli powder,coriander powder,salt
8.  Add palak puree cook for 5minutes
9.  Add fried paneer cook for another 5 minutes
10.  add garam masala cook for a minute and switch off the heat.
Serve with roti,chapati..   Enjoy.
